Bangladesh Football Federation is planning to play an international friendly match against Maldives in September 1 in Male as part of their preparation ahead of their Asian Cup qualifying home play-off match against Bhutan on September 6. BFF said they are making a discussion with Maldives Football Federation who primarily agreed to host Bangladesh. ‘We have a plan to play a friendly match against Maldives on September 1,’ BFF vice-president Kazi Nabil
Ahmed told reporters after a meeting with Belgian head coach of national team Tom Saintfiet at the BFF House on Tuesday.
The BFF had earlier planned to hold two friendly matches against Nepal earlier this month but they had to be cancelled due to fitness concern of some players.
Nabil said they will now resume the national team camp on August 21.
Before resuming the camp, the Belgian coach Saintfiet said he will watch few matches of the Bangladesh Premier League in order to add some new players in his preliminary squad.
Saintfiet, who conducted a six-day long short training camp that ended a couple of days back, has 28 players at his disposal.
‘For me it is important to watch league matches,’ said the 43-year old coach.
‘I have now 28 players in the camp but I want to see all players in the league and I may select total new names for national team.’
