The Bangladesh national football team is set to play a host of warm up matches in their preparation for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers and SAFF Championship, said the Bangladesh Football Federation officials on Saturday. Bangladesh will start their World Cup qualifying campaign against Kyrgyzstan on June 11 before taking on Tajikistan just five days later at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
They will play five more qualifiers in between September and November before competing in the 11th edition of the SAFF Championship to be held in Trivandrum, Kerala in India from December 21-30.
Before the qualifying round starts, Bangladesh will play a warm-up match against Afghanistan on June 4.
But the BFF has decided to arrange more warm up matches for the national team as they have already proposed Pakistan Football Federation to send their national team for a three-match friendly series, said an official.
Before the SAFF Bangladesh have a bright chance to participate in the POMIS Cup, a four-nation invitational tournament to be held in Male from November 20 to 30 this year.
‘We are seriously thinking about the Maldives invitation. We want to take it as a preparation for the SAFF Championship,’ he added.
