Bangladesh Girl Guides Association Barisal region arranged a programme at Holling Bery Syed Moazzem Red Crescent Hospital in the city on Tuesday, marking World Peace Day on September 21. On this occasion, Bangladesh Girl Guides members visited the hospital, exchanged greetings with the patients and presented health and cleaning items, dried and nutritious foods, toys to them.
Earlier the BGGA Ranger unit members gave services to the patients of this hospital from August 29 to September 16, 2013.
The programme was attended by hospital director Dr Yusuf Ali, BGGA officials including regional commissioner Begum Faizunnahar, district commissioner Ajita Rani Samaddar, district treasurer Zannatunnesa Nayon, local secretary Fazilatun Nesa Farid, regional junior trainer Sumaiya Tabassum, Anjali Rani Majumdar, hospital officials including physicians and staffs, and BGGA ranger unit members.
World Peace Day is the day of ceasefire in both personal and universal level and we should take the opportunity to make our life peaceful, the organisers urged while addressing the gathering.
World Peace Day was first celebrated in September 1982 and later till 2001 the day was observed on each third Tuesday of September.
Now it is annually observed throughout the world on September 21.
