Bangladesh Hockey Federation is ready to host the eight-nation qualifying round of the Asian Games from March 15 at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium and Islami Bank Limited is the title sponsor of the tournament. The BHF signed a deal with the private financial organisation on Thursday. BHF president Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari and Mostafa Anwar, acting chairman of the Islami Bank Bangladesh, signed the deal on behalf of their respective organisations.
Khaja Rahmatullah, general secretary of the BHF, was happy to see Islami Bank in the hockey arena.
‘It’s a huge boost for hockey and I hope the players and the federation will put in their best efforts to lift the flag of the country in the Asian Games qualifiers,’ said Rahmatullah.
Coach Naveed Alam is confident that his side will prove themselves on the turf.
‘Our goal is to win the title and play a good brand of hockey. I promise Bangladesh would arrive as a strong outfit and put all the failures behind,’ said the Pakistani coach.
Captain Mamunur Rahman Chayan said his team is ready to show something good to the nation and they are preparing well to face the opponents.
‘Our team spirit is high; the players are united and firmly focused on winning the title,’ said the penalty corner specialist.
Meanwhile, Mostafa Anwar, acting chairman of Islami Bank, said they hope hockey will regain its past glory.
‘We believe that Bangladesh have immense potential in hockey, that’s why we have stepped ahead, we have every belief that Bangladesh team will put a good show and raise the standards,’ said Anwar.
The BHF also announced Anjans as dress partner, Halvetia as hospitality partner, ATN Bangla as media partner and Aamra Network as IT partner.
Bangladesh will face Hong Kong on March 16 in their first Group A match.
