A Birangana of Chittagong, Roma Chowdhury called on the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, at the latter’s Ganobhaban residence in Dhaka Saturday morning.
After seeing Roma Chowdhury in the meeting room of Ganobhaban, the prime minister embraced her and requested her to sit beside her.‘You are younger to me. So, I extend my heartfelt blessings to you so that you can complete your unfinished task,’ Roma Chowdhury said.
Sitting beside the PM, Roma Chowdhury narrated her experiences and various incidents of the Liberation War in emotional voice and at that time, tear rolled down from her eyes.
Sheikh Hasina thanked Roma Chowdhury for her writings on the War of Liberation, saying, ‘Many people do not know the true history of the war. You are performing your responsibilities by writing on the incidents of the War of Independence.’
The prime minister requested Roma Chowdhury to visit the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum and said the historic building was the centre of all struggles and movements for the independence of Bangladesh.
Roma Chowdhury, who authored 17 books, invited the prime minister to visit her home in Chittagong and presented her three books named Ekattorer Janani, Ek Hajar Ek Din Japoner Podya and Bhab Boichitre Rabindranath.
PM’s special assistants Abdus Sobhan Golap and Mahbubul Hoque Shakil, publisher of Roma Chowdhury’s books Alauddin Khokon and former BCL leaders Simanta Talukdar and Chandan Das were present on the occasion.
