The second phase of Bishwa Ijtema begins today on the bank of River Turag at Tongi in Gazipur. In this phase, the people from 32 districts will join the Ijtema and the entire ground has been divided into 38 sections (khitta) for allocation to the devotees. The second phase is scheduled to end with an Akheri Munajat on February 2. According to the district administration and Gazipur police, all necessary preparations, including security and health centres, have been completed.
The Gazipur police superintendent, Abdul Baten said they have taken extra measures to tackle any kinds of crime at the Ijtema site and its surroundings area.
‘Over one thousand Police and Ansar personnel have been deployed at the venue along with other law enforcement agencies,’ he said.
The Gazipur Correspondent of New Age reported that devotees from various districts of the country, who will participate in the second phase, have already started to arrive at the venue.
Earlier on January 24, the three-day long first phase was held at the same place, where about 5 lakh people from the other 32 districts and foreigners participated. The first phase had ended on January 26 with an Akheri Munajat.
