Eminent singer Kumar and Close-up 1 star Putul entertained a full house audience presenting hit numbers in a charity concert for the
benefit of the of underprivileged children.
Nongovernment organisation Utsho Bangladesh, which runs schools for the education of the street urchins, organised the programme on Friday at the Bangladesh National Museum auditorium. The programme began observing one-minute silence to pay respect to recently demised Danish donor of the organisation named Dr Halder Topso.
Subsequently, a documentary titled Utshor Ek Din Protidin featuring the activities of the NGO was screened.
Close-up 1 star Putul covered some popular songs such as Sagor kuler naiya, Bhalo achhi bhalo theko, Ei bristi bheja ratey chole jeyona and Tomar ghore boshot kor-e koy jona.
The main attraction of the show was, however, popular singer Kumar Bishwajit’s performance. He came onstage with the acoustics of instruments such as percussion, drums, guitar and keys commonly used with his songs.
‘As an artist I have some social responsibilities and I am feeling proud to be a part of Utsho,’ said Bishajit promising his support would continue.
His performance began with presentation of a melodious sentimental song Jekhane simanto tomar.
The singer rendered his once very popular song Dodul dolate chore bodhu jay with new music settings. The fusion of Latin rhythm with the traditional tune in the song moved the audience.
His presentation of other hit numbers such as Ami nirbashone jabo na and Oo daktar were also equally entertaining.
The audience expressed excitement singing and giving round of applauses as Bishwajit presented his national award winning song Ma go ma.
Following the programme, Shahana Khan, chairman of Utsho Bangladesh, delivered a speech.
Executive Director of Utsho Mahbuba Mehbub recited Sukanto’s Chharpatro.
For raising fund for the schools Utsho Bagnladesh organises such programmes once or twice a year.
