Team BJMC came back after consecutive defeats to Muktijoddha and Mohammedan in the Bangladesh Premier League with a massive 7-0 thrashing of Uttar Baridhara at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday. This was the seventh time a team has won 7-0 in BPL history. Mohammedan has managed the feat four times, while Abahani Limited did it against Rahmatganj in 2007 and Farashganj thrashed Khulna Abanahi in 2009.
Nigerian midfielder Samson Iliasu, Guinean Ismail Bangoura and young forward Aminur Rahman Sajib all scored braces for BJMC, while Abdullah Parvez also scored to join the goal fest.
Uttar Baridhara, who were promoted from the Bangladesh Championship League and surprised everyone after holding Mohammedan in their second match, were helpless against BJMC’s attackers.
Iliasu started the scoring in the 25th minute when he tapped the ball home following a low cross from Bangoura.
BJMC doubled the lead in the 34th minute when Parvez passed the ball with a back header to Bangoura who placed the ball into the back of the net.
Two minutes later, Parvez made it 3-0, curving the ball in from 25 yards out.
Sajib headed home a Parvez cross from the right flank in the 40th minute to make it 4-0 at halftime.
BJMC came out of the dressing room after the break and continued their procession of goals.
In the 57th minute, Shahanur Rahman Rony produced a cross from the right to find Bangoura, who chipped the ball over Uttar Baridhara keeper Oman Gani.
BJMC added two more late goals to round out the 7-0 score, as Samson Illiasu took advantage of a defensive error to bury a solo effort and Sajib produced an aerial volley off a Bangoura chip just seconds before the final whistle.
