Brigadier General Emadul Haque, the director general of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan, could be the election commissioner for the forthcoming Bangladesh Cricket Board election, a senior National Sports Council official said on Tuesday.
The NSC proposed Emadul’s name to the ministry of youth and sports for approval ahead of the long-overdue BCB election, which is expected to be a direct battle between ruling party lawmakers Nazmul Hasan and Saber Hossain Chowdhury.
‘We have not received an official order from the ministry, but [Emadul’s] name was discussed,’ NSC secretary Ahmed Morshed said on Tuesday.
‘We had proposed the formation of a BCB election commission, where apart from the commissioner there would be two people to help him fulfil his duty,’ said Morshed.
Sources said that the gazette could not yet be published as Emadul is still undecided between the BKSP councillorship and the role of commissioner.
Morshed could not confirm any specific dates for the BCB election.
