Amid the scorching heatwave, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted rain in Chattogram and Sylhet today.
“Rain or thundershower accompanied by temporary gusty wind may occur at one or two places in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours starting 6:00pm on Monday,” said BMD.
The weather may remain mainly dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, added its bulletin at 6:00pm yesterday.
A severe heatwave is sweeping over Rajshahi and Pabna, while a mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over Dhaka, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Khulna and Barishal divisions and the regions of Chattogram, Rangamati, Cumilla, Chandpur, Noakhali and Bandarban and it may continue.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged, the BMD said.
The highest temperature was recorded at 40.7 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, while the minimum temperature was 23.6 degrees in Kishoregan’s Nikli.
