A meeting of the national standing committee of main opposition BNP was held on Wednesday night to discuss latest political situation of the country and to chalk out the next programmes of the party. The meeting of the party’s highest policy-making body began around 8.30 pm at the party chiefs Gulshan office with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the chair and till the filing of this report at 11.30 pm it was on.
The decision of the meeting would be disclosed on Thursday or on Friday, party insiders said adding that the opposition might call a day-long hartal protesting the government’s imposition of restriction on holding meetings and rallies in the capital.
It also discussed the issue of placing its demand for restoration of the caretaker government system in the parliament in the ensuing budget session.
