A bomb hoax panicked people and halted normal activities at the
Chittagong Court Building till 11:00am on Monday.
On information of a bomb being planted at the court building, the law
enforcers conducted a search operation in the morning.The Chittagong Metropolitan Police sources said that a joint team of the Detective Branch and the Rapid Action Battalion conducted the search operation at the court building.
At the end of search operation, Chittagong Metropolitan Police additional deputy commissioner (prosecution) Rezaul Masud said that every nook and corner of the court building were searched but no bomb or explosive was found.
As part of security measures, all people were frisked by metal detectors before entering the court building, he added.
Kotwali police station officer-in-charge AKM Mohiuddin Selim said that an unidentified person called the police over a mobile phone in the morning and informed that a bomb was planted at the court building.
To avert any untoward incident, the police conducted the search, he added.
‘The mobile number from which the call was made is now not available now,’ Mohiuddin said.
Additional police were deployed and security was heightened on the court premises as a precaution, he added.
