Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in association with bKash Ltd on Tuesday launched a book reading programme at the Chittagong Collegiate School in Chittagong. Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, founder and chief executive officer of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, and Kamal Quadir, chief executive officer of bKash Ltd, the leading mobile financial service provider in Bangladesh, jointly inaugurated the book reading programme. Among others, Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer of bKash Major General Sheikh Md Monirul Islam (retd) and CTG Organiser of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro Alex Alim were present at the programme. bKash provided around 30,000 books to Bishwo Shahitto Kendro to expand its ‘Nation-Wide Enrichment Programme’, a book reading programme designed for the students of class VI to X. The books will be used for facilitating reading programme in 400 schools with a target to reach over three lakhs students by phases. Kamal Quadir said, “The book reading programme is a wonderful initiative of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro aiming to create enlightened individuals for a prosperous Bangladesh. This initiative spreads across the country. bKash will continue supporting the programme”. Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed said, “Bishwo Shahitto Kendro has been running the book reading programme for the last 36 years to building a society based on knowledge and enlightenment. We are happy to have bKash in our initiatives”.
