Pushes victim from hilltop
A teenage girl was allegedly raped and pushed from hilltop by a gang of youths in the port city late night Saturday.
The victim, a 15-year-old garment worker, was under treatment in Chittagong Medical College Hospital yesterday.
Sources said she was in love with a youth named Swapan of Lalkhan Bazar area.
Promising to marry the girl, Swapan took her on top of Matijharna hill in his neighbourhood, said her elder sister. His four acquaintances Rubel, Tuku, Babu and Suman were also called in.
The five raped the girl.
The victim’s sister quoted the victim as saying a watchman saw them and began shouting to gather people.
Sensing trouble, Swapan threw the victim off the hill. She fell on the roof of a tin-shed house.
Residents of the house came out fearing a hill slide. They found the girl lying unconscious and took her to CMCH.
Local ward councillor AF Kabir Ahmed Manik said he could recognise the criminals. The five are the identified hooligans of the locality.
Sub-Inspector Akter Hossain of Khulsi Police Station said he had visited the spot and taken the victim’s statement.
