Brothers Union have appointed former Nepal footballer and national team coach Balgopal Maharjan as their new coach for the rest of the season, said the club officials on Tuesday.
Maharjan, who is expected to arrive here today, will replace veteran Indian coach Syed Nayeemuddin, who guided the Gopibagh outfit for the last two seasons.Under the tutelage of Maharjan, Nepal won the Bangabandhu Gold Cup and SAFF Under-19 Championship titles earlier this year.
As a player, the Nepalese also has the experience of playing club football in Dhaka with Brothers.
‘We appointed him [Maharjan] because he
knows the modern techniques of football and he has a vast knowledge on Bangladesh football,’ said member secretary of Brothers Union Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi.
