Members of Bangladesh Rabindrasangeet Shilpi Sangstha entertained a houseful audience presenting different genres of Tagore songs on Friday at the Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The programme was organised by the new organising committee of Dhaka City Branch of the nationwide platform of the Tagore singers.
The organisation also conferred an honorary citation award on its patron Ameena Ahmed, who is also a Tagore singer.
The programme began with a chorus presentation of the national anthem of Bangladesh Amar sonar bangla.
The singers in group also presented other inspirational Tagore songs such as Aguner Poroshmoni and Ami marer sagor pari dibo.
Major part of the programme was solo performances by the members of the organisation.
The full hall audience enjoyed Ferdousi Kakoli’s presentation of Tagore’s Aji joto tara tobo akashe, Nakul Chandra Das’ recital of Darao amar akhir age, Rifat Mahmud’s presentation of Tomar khola hawa, Arifur Rahman Timun’s presentation of Tumi sondhar meghomala, Mamun Zahid Khan’s recital of Jogote anandajogge, Golam Haider’s presentation of Jodi jantem.
As a guest performer, Tagore singer Sajed Akbar entertained the audience with Tagore’s popular song Ei kothati mone rekho.
Another noted singer Pijush Barua presented Aji shuvo diney.
President of Bangladesh Rabindrasangeet Shilpi Sangstha Tapan Mahmud, general secretary Sajed Akbar, eminent Tagore singer Sadi Muhammad, Nargis Chowdhury, convener of Dhaka City Branch participated in the discussion session.
A number of cultural organisations including Surer Dhara, Geetsudha, Boitalik, Uttarayan, Biswabina, Nandan, Padatik, Geetanjoli and Rabiraag congratulated Ameena Ahmed with flower bouquets.
