Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission chairman M Khairul Hossain on Thursday advised the Dhaka Stock Exchange to find one or more renowned foreign strategic investors for the demutualised bourse as soon as possible. The BSEC chairman gave the advice when the DSE board made a courtesy visit to the commission following the extension of the government’s contract with the commission.
At the meeting, BSEC commissioner Helal Uddin Nizami told the bourse to introduce more diversified products that would be attractive to the investors and make the capital market more vibrant.
The BSEC commissioner said that bourse should focus on increasing its income and should follow the measures taken by the developed markets in this regard.
DSE managing director Swapan Kumar Bala requested the BSEC to convey the DSE’s budget proposals to the government’s highest authorities and informed the meeting that bourse had already taken initiatives to find strategic investor for the bourse.
BSEC commissioners Amzad Hossain and Md A Salam Sikder, DSE chairman Siddiqur Rahman Miah and DSE shareholder director Md Shakil Rizvi attended the meeting, among others.
