A young Bangladeshi farmer was beaten to death by the Border Security Force of India on Thakurpur border in Damurhuda of Chuadanga on Friday.
The deceased was Selim Hossain, 25, of Thakurpur in the upazila.
BGB and local sources said Selim was working in his paddy field near border early Friday when 5 to 6 BSF members of the Rangiarpota camp entered Bangladesh and tried to take him away into India.
BSF men hit Selim with rifle as he resisted their attempt. The Indian border guards later dragged him away.
An hour later, people found the body of Selim hanging from a barbed-wire fence on the Indian side.
Local BGB sent a letter to the BSF authorities asking back the body.
