Unidentified miscreants killed a young businessman in Sylhet city on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Mazharul Islam alias Sohel Miah, 35, who lived in boarding house at Tantipara in the city, police said.
Sohel, who was involved in manpower export, had been living in the boarding house for more than five years.
One of his relatives came to meet with Sohel Tuesday night and he went to sleep in his room along with the relative after taking diner at night.
Mosaddik, a resident of the boarding house, told New Age that he went out of the house in the morning when the door of Sohel’s room was closed.
Local people said a man, known to Sohel, came to meet him and found Sohel’s blood-stained body lying on his bed.
The Kotwali police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for postmortem examination.
Kotwali police officer-in-charge Ahmed Nasir Uddin told New Age that the motive behind the murder could not be ascertained.
‘We are trying to find out the identity of the victim’s relative who stayed with him,’ the police officer said.
