Brushing aside all controversies and negative impact of Pakistan cricket, Misbah-ul-Haq thought that his side is on course to prove the rest of the world that they are a forced to be reckoned with. Pakistan cricket and controversy are always synonymous and consistency is rare case for them despite getting enormous talent and great cricketer in the team.
But the way they got back with a bang after the match fixing scandal forced their three top cricketers to have jail sentence, is something really surprising.
Since then, they maintained a sheer consistency and gradually coming up as great threat for the other top cricket nations.
“The way we’ve been performing, you can say what happened with Pakistan cricket team..the boys come out really hard and they just want to do well,” Misbah disclosed after whacked past Bangladesh by thumping innings and 184 runs on Monday.
“I think its always good to win matches as a team, as a player and as a captain. It’s a good time for me and also for the team.”
“The reason behind that were the few controversies that gripped Pakistan cricket. From the day it happened, I think these boys really got back and they just had a goal in their mind, we are going to prove that, we are still a good cricket team and I think they are just proving that,” Misbah, the captain under whom Pakistan lost just one Test out of 11, revealed.
Misbah reckoned that the tough Test series against South Africa in November, 2010 gave them an ample confidence which helped them o keep up the consistency.
“The real test was the series against South Africa in last November so far I remembered. We played really hard cricket against them in two Test matches and we’ve just drawn those two matches,” he stated.
“At that time I think South Africa was one of the best teams in Test cricket. After that the team really got the confidence and they really played very well. That is the main thing behind, every player performed in that series and that confidence really helped us in the coming series and that is now building every series, every match,” he pondered.
For Pakistan’s consistent success, the players credited Misbah but the man himself thought his players extending their hands to make his task easy.
“It’s team effort, everybody just understands each other, just help out each other and that’s really helping us.
“I think if the team does well, obviously credit goes to everyone and to the captain also. But I think players are important in a team, if they cannot perform, the captain can’t do anything.
“Credit goes to everyone, they are really putting in their efforts, they are really up to the mark. They are really fulfilling their responsibility, that’s why the team is winning.”
