The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) is likely to sue National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Ghulam Hussain on corruption charges, which are being investigated by the anti-graft watchdog. ACC Commissioner Nasiruddin Ahmed has already sent a letter to Principal Secretary of Prime Minister’s Office Sheikh Md Wahid-uz-Zaman on December 17 and briefed him on this issue. The commissioner also informed the matter to the senior secretary of the public administration ministry.
In the letter, the ACC commissioner said, “We are informing you that there are so many allegations against NBR Chairman Ghulam Hossain.
The allegations are under investigation by the anti-graft watchdog. ”
Sources at the NBR said that Chairman Ghulam Hossain, also the secretary of internal resources division, has amassed illegal wealth worth at least 200 crore during his tenure at the board.
According to the sources, the finance minister has recently sent a letter to the secretary of the public administration ministry, proposing a two-year extension of Ghulam Hossain’s tenure, which is scheduled to expire on January 5, 2014.
