Child artistes of Nalanda School presented music and dance at a programme held at the Chhayanaut Auditorium on Sunday evening.
Nalanda School, which is a sister concern of Chhayanaut, organised the programme to mark the 81st birth anniversary of late
cultural personality Waheedul Haq (1933- 2007).
The music and dance recitals presented by the children were quite entertaining. The show began with chorus presentation of timeless Tagore song Tumi Nirmol Koro Mongol Koro in the melodious voices of the children. They also presented other songs like Kew Nayan Mudey Dekhe Alo and Ato Alo Jaliyechho in chorus, proving their skills as singers regardless of their age.
The chorus renditions of other songs including Manush Ho and Durgam Giri Kantar Moru were also quite powerful.
While the chorus presented Dui Haate Kaaler Mandira, the young dancers of the school performed with grace and poise. The dancers dressed in colourful outfits moved about the stage in well-coordinated manner. The crowd who gathered on that evening to enjoy the performance of child artistes, seem to be quite thrilled as they appreciated the recitals with loud applauses A photo exhibition titled Alokchitrey Nalanda featuring the academic and cultural activities of the students of that school also began on Sunday at Chhayanaut Auditorium premises. The exhibition will remain open for all everyday till March 20.
