China will give scholarship to 100 Bangladeshi students to study in China in 2011, Chinese ambassador Zhang Xianyi said at a book launching ceremony in Dhaka Saturday.
The number of students who got Chinese scholarship last year was 70.
A new book on China titled ‘Revisiting China after 32 Years’ written by Hasna Jasimuddin Moudud was launched the ambassador in the programme at the National Press Club.
About the present status of the bilateral relationship, Xianyi said China’s relations with Bangladesh reached a higher level in the just-concluded year of 2010.
Opening of the southern silk route between Kunming and Chittagong would open a new era of cooperation between the countries which will help economic development of both the countries, he said.
The book gives a description of the changes that took place in the lives of Chinese people over the period of last 32 years and of the trend of the changes.
Former Dhaka University vice-chancellor Moniruz-zaman Mia, Dhaka University Professor Mahbub Ullah, former ambassador Ashfaqur Rahman and BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed also attended the book launch where former DU VC Emajuddin Ahmed was in the chair.
