Popular band Chirkutt is participating at the 8th South Asian Bands Festival 2014 at the Purana Quila of New Delhi in India
Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and an Indian NGO, SEHER, have jointly organised the three-day festival, which began on Wednesday.
A number of prominent bands from all other South Asian countries including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri
Lanka are also taking part in the festival.
A preview of the festival took place on Wednesday at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of Indian president, which a select few bands including Chirkutt attended.
Established in 2002, Chitkutt has carved out a name in the music industry with their energetic live performances and powerful lyrics. Chirkutt’s eclectic compositions defy genre or classification and they have eventually come to be identified as a ‘fusion’ band.
Chirkutt has released two hit albums Chirkuttnama and Jadur Shohor comprising some of the band’s hit numbers including Jadu-r Shohor, Kanamachi, Khazna, Bondhu, Katakuti, Leje Rakha Pa, and others. The present line-up of the band comprises Sumi on vocals, Pintu on vocals and flute, Emon on guitar, Pavel on drums, Didar on bass, and Tomal as guest rhythm guitarist.
