Sergio Perez’s ability to come back from positions is not in doubt, as he has done it throughout his Formula 1 career.
Now that he has the best car on the grid, he has confirmed it, but what has failed him is qualifying, as he has recorded five Grand Prix in a row without getting into Q1.
Despite these disappointments, Checo Perez remains in second position of F1 in the drivers’ standings, but he will have to improve on Saturdays.
“How do I evaluate your race today? I would say it was fantastic,” Christian Horner said about the Mexican.
“His problem is that he should qualify better, then I’m sure everything will be fine.”
The Red Bull team boss has shown his support to the Mexican through the bad times, but also acknowledged that Perez’s qualifying has been disappointing.
Checo agrees, as he knows that the key to get out of his slump is his performance on Saturdays.
“To improve I think it’s about solving Saturdays, because there is rhythm, I think it’s more difficult for me with the car without fuel, I’m becoming very sensitive to the car, I don’t know and we don’t know if it’s because of wind changes, temperature,” he explained after Silverstone.
“There is also a little bit of how the car is evolving, and it has cost me, I think I will be in the simulator tomorrow.
“If we solve Saturday’s problems, we will have great Sundays.”
