A man was killed in a clash between two groups of villagers over a land related dispute at Niamatpur village in Doarabazar upazila on Monday evening.
The deceased was identified as Abul Mia, 31, son of late Soab Ali of the village.
The people of the area said there had been a longstanding conflict between Abdun Nur and Chan Mia of the village over
the ownership of a piece of land.
As a sequel to the conflict, men of Abdun Nur ambushed Chan Mia’s supporter Abul Mia while he was returning home from Dohalia Bazar at about 5:30pm.
On information, Chan Mia’s men reached the spot and both the groups equipped with lethal weapons locked in a clash.
Abul died on the spot after being hit with sharp weapons by the rivals.
