Usha Krira Chakra sealed their place in the semi-finals of the Club Cup Hockey tournament despite being held for a 2-2 draw by Mariner Young’s Club in their last group match at the Moulana Bhasani National Stadium on Saturday. Usha put Mariner behind with a better goal to finish as Group A champions. Hasan Jubayer Niloy opened the scoring for Usha Krira Chakra in the ninth minute before Arshad Hossain levelled the margin for Mariner Young’s in the 17th minute.
Zulhairi Bin Hashim again restored the lead for Usha in the 25th minute but a 38th minute strike from Koushik gave Usha one point from the game.
In the other match of the day, Ajax played out a 2-2 draw with Shadharan Bima. Mir Mahbub Ali and Khaled Mahmud scored a piece for Ajax while Afsar Uddin and Shamim scored two late goals for Shadharan Bima.
