A CNG driver was killed in a road accident in the cantonment area of the capital as miscreants left the driver on the road after drugging him and hijacking his valuables.
Cantonment police subinspector Kamal Hossain said the deceased, Jahangir Hossain, 35, was drugged by muggers as they snatched the CNG and other valuables from his possession, and abandoned him on the roadside at around 11:15pm in Zia Colony.
A bus ran over him as he was in a daze due to the drug, leaving him dead on the spot.
Meanwhile, the miscreants informed his family of the incident from his mobile phone.
SI Kamal recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The family members rushed to the DMCH and identified the body.
The driver, Jahangir, resident of Agailjhara of Barisal, was residing at West Shewrapara with his wife and two children and was the only income source of the family.
Hasi Begum, wife of the deceased, alleged that members of the drugging gang killed him and snatched the CNG.
They also threw him under the wheels of the bus.
