The national committee to protect oil, gas, mineral resources, power, and ports will implement a mass contract programme in the capital to make its Dhaka divisional rally on May 21 in the city’s Muktangan successful.
The programme includes rallies, marches, and leaflet distribution.
The committee will hold rallies at and marches from Mohammadpur Town Hall on May 7, Mirpur Section 10 on May 13, and Khilkehet-Taltala on May 15, committee sources said.
It will also distribute leaflets in Muktangan area on May 15, in the northern part of the city on May 17, and in the southern part on May 18.
The committee is also planning more rallies and agitation programmes to protest against the government’s plan of signing fresh production sharing contracts with international oil companies for exploration and extraction of gas from the country’s gas fields, the member secretary of the organisation, Anu Muhammad, told New Age on Friday.
The committee will hold rallies in Sunamganj and Netrokona next month in protest against the planned PSCs with IOCs to extract gas from Sunetra gas field, he added.
