A five-day exhibition titled ‘Hiromi Inayoshi exhibition’ began on July 30 at the Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts in Dhanmondi, featuring works of Japanese master artist Hiromi Inayoshi along with twelve award winning works of promising Bangladeshi graphic designers.
This exhibition demonstrates that professionally designed corporate logos that contain the essence of the business philosophy help distinguish a brand or business from its competitors.
Noble laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus inaugurated the event as chief guest while Charge d affaires of the Japanese Embassy Harumitsu Hida was present as guest of honour at the programme. Professor Tsuyoshi Nara, a life-time member of Bangla Academy, attended as special guest.
Praising the works of Hiromi Inayoshi, Professor Yunus said that an exhibition upholding the message of peace such as this would generate awareness about peace in people and help raise their voice against nuclear weapons disaster.
The exhibition is an outcome of a recently concluded workshop conducted by artist Hiromi Inayoshi on logo design, which was held at the Radius Centre at Bay’s Galleria in Gulshan.
In the workshop, around hundred professional and armature graphic designers of Bangladesh took part.
The participants said that they had received in-depth knowledge in this sector which has rarely been discussed in Bangladesh.
For the participants, there was also a competition section titled ‘Conqueror Corporate Identity Design Contest 2010’ organised by Paper Studio, a pioneer promoter of this sector.
The jury board consisted of noted personalities including Mohammad Yunus, Luva Nahid Chowdhury, Bashirul Haque, Geeti Ara Safia Chowdhury and Tamara Abed.
The jury selected 12 artists in two categories— student and creative professional. They will also get a trip to Hiroshima, Japan. Each of the winners will get Tk one lakh prize money and other token prizes.
Three gold medal winners are Shalim Hossain Saju, Abul Hashem Bappy and MA Raihan.
Praising the success of the participants of the workshop, Hiromi Inayoshi said, ‘I am amazed to see the outcome of the workshop in this exhibition.’
Organiser of the exhibition and also workshop Paper Studio’s director Farzeen K Chowdhury said, ‘Whenever, corporate logo is printed deftly on corporate stationeries including business cards, letterheads and envelopes, it help the business to express its identity.’
