The countdown to the ICC World Twenty20 has been started from Sunday, while the ICC and the host Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) launching the match schedule and the ticket sale at the Hotel Ruposhi Bangla. The 5th edition of ICC World Twenty20 Cricket will be hosted in three venues in Bangladesh from March 16, 2014. Earlier, the women’s matches were scheduled to be held exclusively at the newly constructed Cox’s Bazar Stadium. But at the last moment the BCB had to shift the matches of Cox’s Bazar to Sylhet. Since the BCB could not asses the pitches of the newly laid wickets at Cox’s Bazar and at the same time BCB does not want to take any risk.
Nazmul Hassan Papon, MP, the BCB president while addressing a press conference at the same venue following the announcement of the schedule and ticket sale launching ceremony said, “From today the countdown to the ICC World Twenty20 Cricket has been started.”
