A couple was found dead at Dhalla village in Manikganj sadar upazila on Saturday morning. The deceased were identified as Dhalu Miah, 40, son of Mazed Ali, and his second wife Rokeya Begum, 32, of the village. It was suspected that Rokeya committed suicide after stabbing her husband to death. Already married to Monwara Begum, Dhalu Miah tied the knot with Rokeya, who had three children with her former husband, barely one and a half years ago, locals said.
However, their marriage was not a happy one as the couple had frequent brawls.
Family members and local people found Dhalu lying dead with stab marks on the body while Rokeya hanging in their room on Saturday morning and informed police.
The police recovered the bodies.
Manikganj sadar police sub-inspector Shafiqul Islam declined to make any comment, saying the actual reason behind the deaths of the couple could be known after investigation.
