The Centre for Policy Dialogue will observe its 20th anniversary by the end of November through a number of activities including public lectures, research colloquium, and outreach events with the participation of its alumnus and well-wishers, it said in a press release.
CPD, the country’s leading independent think-tank and research organisation, started its journey on November 16, 1993.
The decision to observe the anniversary was taken at the 40th meeting of the Board of Trustees of the CPD held on Sunday.
At the meeting, the BoT also reviewed CPD’s research, dialogue and publication activities during January-July, 2013 period.
The Board endorsed CPD’s plan for research, dialogue, publications and outreach related activities for the rest of 2013 and beyond.
CPD Board appreciated CPD’s research and dialogue activities including budget-related initiatives, research on gender contribution to GDP and domestic resource mobilisation.
At the meeting, CPD management briefed the BoT members about the upcoming international conference which CPD will host on October 25-27, 2013, in view of the coming Ninth WTO Ministerial Conference to be held in December 2013 in Bali.
Presided over by CPD chairman Rehman Sobhan, the board meeting was attended by CPD Trustees Nijera Kori coordinator Khushi Kabir, former finance minister M Syeduzzaman, former member of planning commission Nurul Haq, Kedarpur Tea Company Ltd managing director Laila Rahman Kabir, Apex Group chairman Syed Manzur Elahi, Bangla Academy chairman Anisuzzaman, CPD’s distinguished fellow Debapriya Bhattacharya, CPD executive director and BoT member secretary Mustafizur Rahman. CPD’s dialogue and communication director Anisatul Fatema Yousuf attended the meeting on invitation.
