A total of 108 cricketers on the Bangladesh Cricket Board payroll remained unpaid since January as the list prepared by the tournament committee did not get the approval from the board of directors. The BCB brought 120 cricketers under the payroll in 2013, with 12 earning the national contract and the rest being placed in three categories with a salary cap of Tk 25,000, Tk20,000 and Tk 15,000 respectively.
The cricketers completed their first year on payroll in December, but officials said the new list was submitted to the board only in April, resulting in payment delay for all but 12 national players.
Officials claimed the delay was due to the Asia Cup and the ICC World Twenty20.
BCB acting chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury said there was no need to worry as the unpaid cricketers will get their arrears.
‘Once the list is approved in the board meeting we will start disbursing their dues,’ said Nizamuddin.
