Speakers at a conference in Rajshahi said wide-ranging community participation was very important for making the community policing forum effective and meaningful for the sake of building crime-free society. In the wake of gradually rising trend of social crimes especially addiction to drugs and its trafficking and trading, they viewed only the law-enforcers or anyother single organisation isn’t capable to uproot the crimes.
The observations came at a members-conference of Chapainawabgonj District Community Policing Forum held at Sadar Model Police Station complex on Sunday.
Manab Kalyan Parishad organised the conference in association with the Asia Foundation and USAID.
Superintendent of police Basir Ahamed and sadar upazila chairman Ruhul Amin addressed the conference as the chief and special guests respectively with SM Bazlur Rashid, officer-in-charge of the police station, in the chair.
Among others, additional superintendent of police Al Mamun, district coordinator of community policing forum Mohita Kumar Dan, MKP project coordinator Safiul Awal, district coordinator Saiful Islam and upazila coordinators Rabiul Haque and Shahidul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
