Two minor boys were injured, one more seriously, Wednesday afternoon as a cracker they had picked up taking it for a ball exploded in the city’s Tejgaon area.
Tofazzal Hossain, 11, a student of class III lost three fingers and the wounds of his friend Lokman Hossain, 10, was less serious. The misfortune befell them when they were playing on the Civi1l Aviation Staff Quarter at around 1.45 PM, said neighbour Al-Amin, who took them to the hospital.
Like any other day, the two boys were playing and by mistake picked up the crude bomb taking it for a toy and in no time it exploded leaving them injured, Tofazzal’s father Md Jamal Uddin told New Age.
They were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Doctors described Tofazzal’s injuries in both hands as ‘pretty serious’.
DMCH referred them to the National Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation.
Doctors said Tofazzal might need amputation.
