Different cultural organisations celebrated Nazrul’s 114th birth anniversary in a festive manner on Saturday organising various programmes
including musical shows and fairs.
Nazrul Academy’s three-day Nazrul birth anniversary celebrations programme ended on Saturday at the Music and Dance Centre of
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Members of the academy presented diverse Nazrul songs, recitations and dance recitals at the programme.
Renowned Nazrul singer Yasmin Mustary was honoured with lifetime achievement award for her contribution. Daughter-in-law of the national poet Begum Uma Kazi was also present at the programme as chief guest on the concluding day.
Earlier the three-day celebrations programme was inaugurated by eminent singer- researcher Mustafa Zaman Abbasi on Thursday at the Music and Dance Centre hall of BSA. Nazrul Academy also honoured veteran Nazrul singer Khalid Hossain with lifetime achievement award for his dedication to Nazrulgeeti over the past five decades on the day.
Khalid Hossain also sang a Nazruls such as Chharo chharo anchol, Adho adho bol and Rimjhim rimjhim. The academy’s students and teachers also presented diverse Nazrul songs such as Sundoro otithi eso eso, Jago nari jago, Rumjhum jhum nupur, Porojonome jodi asi, Alga korogo khopar badhon and Chad herichhe chad mukho tar.
Dance recitals synchronised with Nazrul’s songs such as Momero putul momir deshe, Srezono chhonde dole anonde, Prio jai jai bolo na, Ke duronto bajao jhore were entertaining.
The recitation artistes also presented Nazrul’s poems such as Obhishap, Paap and Ishwor.
The second day programme of the three-day celebrations, however, took place at the Narul Academy’s office at Moghbazar on Friday.
Eminent Nazrul singers of the country presented evergreen Nazrul songs at the musical programme organised by Nazrul Sangeet Shilpy Parisad on Friday at the Music and dance Center of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The houseful audience enjoyed soulful presentation of diverse Nazrul songs by the seasoned singers like Sujit Mostafa, Badrunnessa Dalia, Shahid Kabir, Rahat Ara Geeti, Iffat Ara Nargis, Shahzahan Patowari, Alpona Roy, Anindita Chowdhury and others.
Chhayanaut organised a two-day programme which ended on Saturday at Chhayanut auditorium. The two-day programme featured music and dance performed by the Chhayanaut artistes.
The show on Friday began with a chorus of Nazrul’s landmark rebellious song Karar oi lauha kapat synchronised with a colouful group dance.
It was followed by another music-dance presentation of the Chhayanaut artistes. The colourful choreography presented by the dancers in group with the chorus presentation of the inspirational song Aji rakto nishi bhorey also entertained the audience.
The mood of the evening changed as Afsana Runa gave a soulful presentation of a romantic Nazrul song titled Mukhe keno nahi balo. Pujon Das’ presentation of the sentimental song titled Shaon asilo phirey seto phirey elona also touched the emotion of the audience.
Another attraction of the show was the presentation of some unique bhajan based Nazrul songs such as Sthir hoye basho dekhi ma and Maago chinmoyee rup dhorey aay, rendered respectively by Swarna Nag and Sumon Chowdhury.
Some timeless season-based Nazrul songs glorifying the beauty of the monsoon such as Ajhar dharai barasha jhare and Barasha ai elo barasha presented by Jannat-E-Ferdous Lucky and Mridula Samaddar respectively added diverse feelings.
The audience also enjoyed Ashit Roy’s rendition of Phulo malini enechho ki mala and Bipul Majumder’s presentation of Amar jabar somoy holo.
Channel i organised a day-long Nazrul fair on the premises of the TV channel on Saturday.
In a very festive atmosphere, the event began with flying some colourful balloons by noted personalities like Mustafa Zaman Abbasi, Mostafa Nurul Islam, Shamsuzzaman Khan, Shudhin Das, Salauddin Ahmed, Ferdous Ara, Khairul Anam Shakil, Gazi Mazharul Islam, Nashida Kamal, Rasheda K Chowdhury and Faridur Reza Sagor.
The TV channel honoured Mustafa Zaman Abbasi with a lifetime achievement award.
Moreover, leading Nazrul singers of the country like Salauddin Ahmed, Ferdous Ara, Khairul Anam Shakil, Kalpana Anam Shakil and Rebeka Sultana rendered Nazrul songs.
Syed Hasan Imam recited Nazrul’s poem Amar Koifiyat at the programme.
The programme also featured dance recitals by members of different cultural oranisations, painting by noted artists and children.
Eminent artists like Biren Shome, Abdul Mannan, Shahid Kabir and others painted canvases marking the day.
The fair also featured displays of Nazrul’s works and various other items.
