“The Reality of SMB Cloud Security in 2022” report by Sophos, a global cybersecurity as a service provider, found that 56% of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) subscribers had more attacks on their organization than the year before, and 67% were targeted by ransomware. Attack complexity increased for 59%.
For many of these users, a lack of visibility into their infrastructure, unpatched vulnerabilities and resource misconfigurations make them susceptible to various types of attacks, including ransomware. Of those surveyed, only 37% track and detect resource misconfigurations and only 43% routinely scan IaaS resources for software vulnerabilities.
65% of cloud users reported not having visibility of all resources and configurations, and just 33% indicated their organization has the resources to continuously detect, investigate, and remove threats in their IaaS infrastructure.
The 2022 Reality of SMB Cloud Security survey interviewed 4,984 IT experts in small and mid-sized businesses in 31 countries.
