A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services on Thursday to promote DCCI’s project aimed at creating new entrepreneurs. DCCI president M Sabur Khan and BASIS president AKM Fahim Mashroor signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.While signing the MoU, Sabur Khan said DCCI, in cooperation with Bangladesh Bank, would create 2000 new entrepreneurs this year to facilitate employment generation and economic development in the country.
He said engagement of BASIS in this project would help the country’s freelancers of ICT sector become successful entrepreneurs.
The DCCI leader informed that from September 4 this year interested persons who want to be entrepreneurs would be able to register online through BASIS web site.
Besides, on September 14, the DCCI and BASIS will jointly organise a daylong workshop for the freelancers of ICT sector at the DCCI to make them well aware of being entrepreneurs. In the workshop, the freelancers will get related information and training about how to become entrepreneurs.
Fahim Mashroor said DCCI’s initiative of creating entrepreneurs would contribute a lot to the ICT sector of Bangladesh as well as development of the economy.
He said young IT professionals were very skilled but they were not interested to become entrepreneurs due to some hindrances and difficulties.
Mashroor also said an IT entrepreneur could create a good number of employment opportunities and assured the DCCI of all possible support from BASIS in fulfilling the target of creating 2000 new entrepreneurs.
DCCI senior vice-president Nessar Maksud Khan, vice-president Absar Karim Chowdhury, directors Haider Ahmed Khan, M Abu Hurairah,Abdus Salam, Md Shoaib Choudhury and vice-president of BASIS Syed Almas Kabir were present during the MoU signing.
