Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday with a view to facilitating the business registration process through the formation of a helpdesk that will be launched on the DCCI premises shortly.
DCCI president M Sabur Khan and RJSC registrar (additional secretary) Bijon Kumar Baishya signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations at a city hotel, said a DCCI press release.
The International Finance Corporation through Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund will provide technical support for the capacity building and operationalisation of the helpdesk, which is going to be the first-ever government-approved helpdesk being operated to assist new and old businessmen.
The government had introduced online business registration at RJSC in early 2009 in an effort to simplify the business registration process. However, clients often face both procedural and technical problems while completing the registration process, and due to understaffing at RJSC they do not receive the necessary support from RJSC staff.
Under the MoU, the RJSC will allow DCCI full communication with RJSC internal staff and internal system to complete registration processes.
DCCI directors Rizwan-ur Rahman, M Abu Hurairah, Kh Shahidul Islam, Hossain A Sikder and IFC programme manager Masroor Reaz were also present at the signing ceremony.
