Popular musician Tahsan formed his new band Tahsan and the Sufis last year. First song of its first album had been released on its official fan page on social network, Facebook, on June 30, vocalist

‘Five songs of the album are already complete and we are working on four other songs’, Tahsan said.Sufi rock is quite a culture in the music scene of Bangladesh. ‘Sufi rock is quite an old style. I’ve always been interested in this particular genre. When I write and compose music, I also try to focus on Sufi style, so it has coexisted with my music for a long time, even though it’s not yet quite common in this country,’ Tahsan told New Age while explaining the reason to choose this specific genre.
It is common to release an album in CD or DVD but the band has a particular reason to release it on the internet. ‘Because of piracy, I don’t like the idea of releasing an album on CD or DVD format and at the same time, I feel we will be able to better reach our target audience through internet. Releasing the first song on Facebook is a kind of experiment,’ Tahsan explained.
Ami Sufi is the song that has been uploaded on Facebook. Written by Tahsan, the song can be found at ‘facebook/tahsanfans’.
The current lineup of the band is; Tahsan as a lead vocal, Tanvir as the lead guitarist, Shishir on drums and Sunny on bass.
