Defence completed the cross-examination of Shyamali Nasrin Chowdhury, prosecution witness-13 against Jamaat-e-Islami leader Motiur Rahman Nizami, at the International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Thursday. Shyamali, the widow of martyred ophthalmologist Dr Abdul Alim Chowdhury, gave her deposition at the tribunal on Wednesday, accusing Nizami as the mastermind of the killing of her husband during the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
She also recognised Nizami in the docks as the chief of Al Badr in 1971 after giving testimony at the three-member tribunal, headed by Justice ATM Fazle Kabir. Being cross-examined by the defence counsel, Shyamali, 71 said that she always accused Nizami as a killer of her husband.
