A mob blocked the Dhaka-Aricha Road and set fire to a bus after an unnamed woman died in a road accident at Radio Colony of Savar in Dhaka on Friday morning.
Sources said local people had set on fire the bus that killed the woman and vandalised some other buses.
Traffic on the road remained suspended for an hour and a half.
The police quoting witnesses said a bus headed for Manikganj from Dhaka hit a rickshaw near Rabya Clinic about 10:30am. The bus ran over the woman after she had fallen down on the road, killing her on the spot. Two others were also injured.
The local people then captured the bus and set fire to it. The people also vandalised some buses, witnesses said.
The police later controlled the situation about 11:30am.
The Savar police said that the identity of the deceased could not be established immediately. The police said that the driver had managed to get way.
A case was filed in this connection, he said.
Earlier on February 12, local people also blocked the road stretch for six hours in the same place in protest at the death of a student in a road accident. Four buses were burnt and more than 60 buses were vandalised at the time.
