State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Captain (Retd) AB Tajul Islam on Sunday said the chiefs of district and upazila level Razakar, Al Badar and Al Shams would be brought under the trial process soon. “The trial process of some war criminals is at the final stage while the process of other war criminals’ trial is going on,” he told the parliament while replying to a starred question from ruling party MP Mouazzam Hossain Ratan (Sunamganj-1).
Responding to a supplementary question from Ratan, Tajul Islam said the government has no plan to prepare a pictorial list of the identified war criminals.
While replying to ruling party MP Kamal Ahmed Majumber, the minister said that BNP-Jamaat government gave plots to Nizami and Mujahid for their contribution to the Liberation War. “We will apply to cancel the allotment of those plots,” he said. He said that a list would be sent to Housing and Public Works in this regard. The number of freedom fighters in the country is 171,000, the minister also mentioned.
