Russell Domingo was released by the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Monday from his position as the Twenty20 international team’s head coach, but the South African will continue in that position for the Test and one-day international teams.
However, Nazmul Hasan, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board stated this following a meeting with the coaches on Monday that no one will be certain in the position of head coach for the T20 team.
Domingo was appointed as the head coach of Bangladesh in August 2019. While there have been some memorable successes under him, there have also been notable failures.
He was widely criticised, especially due to the deterioration of the Bangladesh team in T20.
‘There will be no one in the role of head coach in the country’s cricket. Sridharan Sriram, the newly appointed technical consultant for T20, has been given the responsibility of looking after the T20 team. Batting coach and former head coach Jamie Siddons will work to develop the new players. Domingo will primarily work with the Test and ODI teams,’ said Nazmul.
In that case, Domingo will not be with the national team for the next few days. Tigers will be busy only with the T20 format till next November.
As he is not on the coaching panel of the T20 team, he will spend this time on vacation.
