The Bangladesh Cricket Board has planned to start the upcoming edition of Dhaka Premier League by April 20, officials said on Thursday.
The working committee of BCB, headed by Enayet Hossain Siraj, proposed the timeline to the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis during its first official meeting.Several other issues were discussed in the meeting where it was decided that the controversial Players’ by Choice transfer system will return back after one season since its introduction in 2013-14 season.
Under the Players’ by Choice transfer system, players are divided in several categories, will be distributed to the club through lottery, which will take place on April 10.
‘The league will start within the 10 days after the Players’ by Choice is completed,’ said media committee chairman Jalal Yonus after the meeting.
In another important decision, the working committee recommended to have a reserve day for each match, keeping the possibilities of rain in head.
The committee also recommended a raise of grant for the DPL clubs by 25 per cent but wanted their share of profit from the Bangladesh Premier League to be slashed.
Currently each DPL club gets an annual grant of Tk seven lakh from the BCB. The Board also gave each top six clubs Tk 35 lakh and other six clubs Tk 25 lakh from its BPL earnings.
Working committee said Board should now give Tk 15 lakh to each top six clubs and Tk 10 lakh to each of the bottom six clubs.
‘The BCB earned lesser amount from the BPL this season than the past. So, the bounty of DPL clubs also should be reduced,’ said working committee chairman Siraj.
