Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and freedom fighter Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury has been admitted to Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in the capital after falling seriously ill.
Gonoshasthaya Samaj Vittik Medical College’s acting principal and Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital’s coordinator Mohibullah Khandaker told media on Friday afternoon.
“Dr Zafrullah has been suffering from kidney complications for a long time. The day before yesterday, he suddenly became seriously ill. Later, he was taken to Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital. Although he did not need to be shifted to ICU, he was given oxygen. Due to kidney problems, he has to undergo dialysis three times a week. After Covid-19 infection, his lungs were also affected. Overall, his physical condition is quite serious,” he said.
Dr Zafrullah is undergoing treatment under Brig Gen (retired) Mmaum Mostafi, head of Nephrology Department of the medical college.
Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s press advisor Jahangir Alam at a press release sought prayers for Zafrullah’s recovery to people of the country.
