Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club lost their first points of the Bangladesh Premier League when they were held to a goalless draw by Brothers Union at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday. In the second match of the day, Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra were also held to a 1-1 draw by Rahmatganj MFS at the same venue. Jamal, who scored 15 goals in their first six matches of the league, failed to find the back of the net for the first time in the league.
Jamal’s two in form foreign forwards — Haitian Wedson Anselme and Nigerian Emeka Darlington tried their best but just could not break the deadlock as Brothers Nigerian defender Adams Jankasa stood as a rock in front of the defence.
Despite the stalemate, Jamal lead the points table with 19 points from seven games, still six points ahead of their nearest rivals Abahani Limited.
Brothers on the other hand remained in the fifth position with 11 points from the same number of outings.
Elsewhere, an in-form Eanmul Haque scored his seventh goal of the league to give Muktijoddha the lead in the 69th minute with a header against Rahmatganj.
Super-sub Mannaf Rubby leveled the margin in the additional time as the young striker’s placing shot from goalmouth melee went to the far post past Muktijoddha keeper Titumir to give Rahmatganj a crucial point.
