Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra got easy win in their respective seventh round matches of the Bangladesh League on Saturday.
Sheikh Jamal beat hosts Chittagong Mohammedan SC 2-0 at the Cox’s Bazar stadium to take their tally to 14 points. National striker Emily ended his goal draught in the league when he scored the opening goal in third minute of the second half while his Cameroonian team-mate Modo Hugues sealed the fate of the match by netting the second on 72 minutes.
At the Kamalapur stadium, Sheikh Russell handed Feni Soccer Club a 3-0 thrashing in a one-sided match, raising their tally to14 points.
Shekh Russell’s Cameroonian forward Jimgou Guy Charles scored two early goals and set up Monaem Khan Raju for third to go 3-0 up.
Charles put his team ahead just five minutes after the start when his powerful right-footer from inside the penalty area found the back of the net after a free-kick from Moro Mohammed was parried by Feni Soccer Club goalkeeper Piaruzzaman Piru.
Charles doubled the margin in the next minute, converting a spot-kick after he was hacked down inside the box by Feni Soccer’s midfielder Sohel Rana.
Charles was about get his first hat-trick of the season in the 73rd minute but Piru denied him with a diving effort. Piru,
however, could not save his side from conceding the third, with Raju heading in from near the goal-line.
The margin could have been even bigger had Emu’s curling shot from the left flank in the 77th minute not hit the crossbar.
This loss did not change Feni Club’s position in the table, they are 11th in the 12-team league with three points.
