Eid-e-Miladunnabi, the day of birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Mohammed (S), will be celebrated on February 16.
The decision was taken at a meeting of National Moon Sighting Committee as the moon of Rabiul Awal month of Hijri 1432 was sighted on the sky of Bangladesh Friday.
That is why counting of Rabiul Awal Month will be started from today.
Eid-e-Miladunnabi is celebrated on the 12th day of the Hijri month of Rabiul Awal which falls on February 16.
Vice-president of National Moon Sight Committee and secretary to the religious affairs ministry Kazi Habibul Awal presided over the meeting held at Baitul Mukarram Conference room of the Islamic Foundation on Friday evening.
Eid-e-Miladulnabi is also known as Barah Wafat the twelfth day.
The day is marked by holding religious discourses, reading the Qur’an and giving alms to the poor.
